The BMX Australia National Championships are taking place in Cairns in April and May.

CAIRNS, AUSTRALIA, March 08, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Those who enjoy the thrill and excitement of high-octane sport should check out the BMX Australia National Championships in Cairns.

The best riders in the country will be lining up for some fast-paced racing and viewers can expect to see crashes and action galore.

Cairns BMX Club is the location of the event, with Barry Knight, president of BMX Australia, praising the professionalism at the track.

He said in a statement: "The club has held previous high-level state and national championships and we as a board believe they will hold one of the best national championships on record."

Over 275 riders from the Cairns club will be hoping for their shot at glory.

The action is set to kick off on April 26th and will run until May 1st.

National championships will be decided on April 30th and May 1st, with racing starting at 11:00 and 10:00 local time respectively.

Tickets for the spectator marquees are available from state associations.

In order to warm up for the meeting, the Cairns BMX Club will also be holding the Cairns March Madness Carnival.
